How To Add Magento Products To Google Base?

Posted on March 15th, 2013 | Posted by admin

Confused regarding how to add Magento Products ?

It is extremely easy to add products to Google Base via the Magento Admin Interface. This article will help you in doing so.

Google Base has recently started to require a product type attribute. One needs to create a new attribute called “Product Type” and map it with Google’s “product_type” attribute.

Step by step guide to importing Magento products into Google Base:

Step 1:

Create a Google Base (merchant) account. This is the first thing you need to do since you’ll need to enter account access data in the next step.

Import Configurable Products in Magento

Import Configurable Products in Magento
Importing Configurable Products is another great feature that comes with Magmi, but it can be a bit confusing for some, due to configurable and simple product having different columns and column count.

Start by creating a configurable product manually via the admin to assure that the super attribute and simple product relations are set-up correctly and working. After you successfully created a configurable product to go by, you can start with your configurable product spreadsheet, which requires less column headers due to most coming from the simple products. In a duplicated version of the simple products spreadsheet, cut down the values to the following (but do leave the columns you may require, such as page layout or custom designs if you intend to use them):

Can’t Add Products To Shopping Cart Or Login To Admin Page IE And Chrome

Posted on February 6th, 2013 | Posted by admin

I have had rather strange ordeal this morning when a customer reported that all of a sudden no one seemed to be able to add products to Magento shopping cart or log in to admin panel using Chrome or IE. However over to Firefox world, things seemed to be working as they should

After double checking with the hosting guys, we realized there was a power cut the night before! That was good enough reason to base all the investigation on what could have possibly go wrong as there hasn’t been any changes to the site that could have possibly cause this behaviour

Magento Solutions Products not showing up

Posted on January 15th, 2013 | Posted by admin

If you are working with Magento for the first time you probably found yourself asking this question: Why are my products not showing up on homepage/category page?

So I made a list of reasons or things you should consider:

1. The most simple reason – your product’s status is disabled – set status to Enabled (General tab from your product details page)

2. Visibility - your product is not set as visible in the category page set Visibility to Category or Category, Search

3. Inventory problems

- your product is not on stock go to Inventory tab from your product details page and check if Stock Availability is set On Stock

- quantity – check if  Qty from Inventory tab is greater then 0

4. Disable your cache or if it is you want it enabled refresh it from System > Cache Management

5. Reindex data from System > Index Management – Reindex Data

Magento Export products in custom XML [script]

Posted on December 27th, 2012 | Posted by admin

If you have to export all or a part of your Magento products you can try this simple script which creates a products collection and writes a simple and custom XML file per product (but you can simply change it to write a single long XML file).

Hope you enjoy it!
