Magneto – Programmatically remove Customer Attribute

In Magento customer attributes is based on EAV structure (Entity Attribute Value)
in some cases we need to add the customers custom attributes also want to remove those
to remove the attributes the code is as below


$setup = new Mage_Eav_Model_Entity_Setup(‘core_setup’);

try {
$custAttr = ‘user_name’; // here enter your attribute name which you want to remove

$setup->removeAttribute(‘customer’, $custAttr);

Small tips for multi-language translation

Many people know, on the /app/locale/language pack folder, you can add translation which you want into the .csv files (for example, mage_page.csv).

But, sometime, we added/changed something on the .csv, but nothing happen.

Especially the words which you add/edit on the template files.

What is wrong?

If you want some word can automatic translate, you need write them as PHP FORMAT, not directly writing.

How To Display Best Selling Products On Magento Store Home Page

Showing best selling products on your store’s home page is a great option especially if you are looking to promote best selling products even more. If you are looking to display best selling products on your home page you can do that by following simple ways:

  1. Show best selling products by creating best selling “attribute” and assign that attribute to the desired product.
  2. Query your database and find out actual data and then show best selling products based on your query.
  3. Create a category called “Bestselling” and assign your desired products to this particular category.

How to add Magento form validation on custom form

For the form to be validate you need to add the appropriate classes to your input fields.
You will notice all of the input fields have one common class name, required-entry.
To find available class names, try going to One page checkout page, where you have checkout form, then simply view source and look for class names next to input, radio select and other fields.
– Also you must add the Javascript code at the bottom of your custom form. It is quite important!

In Magento, We researched over the admin panel to remove recently viewed items in left side box of my store. But I couldn’t able to find the solutions in backend.

Finally i got an idea to remove Magento recently viewed box via xml file manually. It’s easy method to remove box.

1. Go to the location: app/design/frontend/default/THEMEFOLDER/layout/
Find the file names as “reports.xml
If you can’t found go to the base: app/design/frontend/default/base/layout/reports.xml
2. Find the below line in reports.xml file
